PU, NDU join hands to serve the country

LAHORE: Punjab University and National Defence University have signed a memorandum of understanding to make joint efforts for promotion of academic activities aimed at serving the nation.

In this regard, an agreement was signed at the PU Vice Chancellor’s office here on Wednesday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, Rear Admiral Syed Zain Zulfiqar HI (M), Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, deans of various faculties, NDU Registrar Lt Col Muhammad Hafeez (r)  Dean Faculty of Contemporary Sciences Dr Lubna Abid Ali, head of International Relations Department Dr Khurram Iqbal and others participated in the event.

Addressing the ceremony, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed said universities were public institutions being run by taxpayer’s money and they must play their role for the development of the country and resolving socio-economic problems being faced by the nation. He said that both the universities would launch joint research projects and organize seminars and conferences.  He said that both the universities would promote faculty and student exchange programs.

Rear Admiral Syed Zain Zulfiqar said that both the universities would benefit from each others’ sources and NDU would like to benefit from the competent and experienced faculty of PU. He said that both the institutions would share ideas and work on joint research initiatives in various fields of mutual interest. He said that it was his great wish to see  the green and splendid campus of Punjab University.

Later, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmed and Rear Admiral Syed Zain Zulfiqar signed MoU and exchanged souvenirs.
