PU offers scholarship for Tajik students

LAHORE: Punjab University’s Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad has announced scholarships for the students of Tajikistan who would seek admissions at PU from fall 2021, as a part of efforts to bring two nations together.

He was talking to Tajikistan’s Ambassador Ismatullo Nasredin during his meeting with him at the VC office on Wednesday.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, Regional Integration Centre Director Dr Fauzia Hadi Ali, Centre for Global and Strategic Studies Executive Director Col (r) Khalid Taimur and others were present on the occasion.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Nasredin said that both the countries were historically and culturally connected and there was a need to promote people to people contact.

He said that Tajikistan would welcome faculty members and students from Punjab University. He stressed the need to launch teachers and students exchange programs among the universities of both the countries.

Mr Nasredin presented two books written by Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmonov to the Vice Chancellor on the history of Tajikistan.

The VC said that these two books would be translated in Urdu language, which would help promote bilateral relations.
