Punjab University Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) has organized a workshop on “National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU)” at Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology for the awareness of faculty members and researchers.

ORIC Director Prof Dr Muhammad Arshad Javed welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU) of Higher Education Commission for progressive Pakistan. ICET Director Prof Dr Abdullah Khan Durrani was the guest of honor while around 200 honorable faculty members participated in this workshop.  Durrani also delivered a talk regarding the technical evaluation of research projects.

Assistant professors Dr Uzam Qaisar and Dr Maliha Uroos were the resource persons of the workshop. They briefed about the submission and getting the NRPU research projects. They stated that National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU) is a flagship research programme of HEC for funding research grants on competitive merit for high-level and promising scientific research projects that demonstrate strategic relevance and impact to local industry and society.

They said the main focus of the programme was to competitively select research projects that would address national priorities through supporting basic and applied research as well as translational research/experimental and transformative research in order to push research to do country specific problem based having impact on society. They also stated that HEC intended to stimulate partnerships between academic researchers and end-users. At the end, the audience had question and answer session. ORIC Director Dr Arshad  Javed presented certificates to the guest of honor and resource persons. He also appreciated the efforts made by staff of ORIC for organizing the workshop.
