PU pays tribute to APS martyrs

LAHORE: Punjab University Department of Elementary Education has organized a ceremony to pay tribute to the martyrs of Army Public School.

The ceremony was organized at Waheed Shaheed Hall of Institute of Education and Research in which students presented a tableau, debates and poetry to pay tribute to the innocent souls who sacrificed their live in war on terror.  PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, former PU VC Lt Gen (r) Arshad Mahmood, Lt Gen (r) Zawar Hussain, Director Department of Elementary Education Prof Dr Abdul Qayyum Choudhary, Faulty members and a large number of students participated in the event.

Addressing the participants, Prof Niaz Ahmad said that our coward enemy wanted to demoralize our nation through the attack. However, he said, history had proved that our enemy failed in his nefarious designs and the whole nation had united.  He said that the super powers of the world had failed but Pakistan Army had won war on terror. He said Pakistan Army is No 1 Army in the world because of its passion. He said that the Pakistan Army was the guarantor of the defence of our boundaries and the nation. He said that hundreds of thousands of people sacrificed their lives to establish Pakistan and now the Pakistan Army and Police were making sacrifices to safeguard Pakistan. He said that some of our so-called thinkers were making fun of our institutions and they all must be discouraged. He said that Pakistan would never forget the sacrifices of the children and their parents.

Lt Gen (r) Arshad Mahmood and Lt Gen (r) Zawar Hussain recalled and paid tribute to the services of the martyrs and Ghazis of Pakistan Army. Dr Abdul Qayyum Chaudhry said that the APS incident united the whole nation. He lauded the sacrifices of Gen (r) Arshad Mahmood and said that he advanced on the war front despite he was injured by the enemy’s bullet. The participants also paid tribute to the martyrs of Army Public School.
