Punjab University (PU) Institute of Social & Cultural Studies (ISCS) recently hosted its inaugural convocation for the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, marking a significant milestone for both the institution and its graduating students. Among the distinguished attendees were Acting Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and Director of ISCS, Professor Dr. Rubeena Zakar, CEO/MS of Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital, Dr. Hamid Hassan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Poonch, Rawalakot (UPR) Professor Dr. Zakaria Zakar, Assistant Director of Academics at Gulab Devi Educational Complex (GDEC), Usman Jawad Iqbal, as well as faculty members and students.
In her welcoming address, Dr. Rubeena Zakar extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students and their proud parents. She commended the remarkable achievements of the graduates, noting that many have secured esteemed positions both within Pakistan and internationally, while others have chosen to pursue further education through post-graduate programs. Dr. Zakar also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support provided by Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital throughout the academic journey.
Dr. Hamid Hassan echoed Dr. Zakar’s sentiments, congratulating the students and emphasizing the importance of ethical values in their professional development. He underscored the challenges overcome by the graduates, attributing their success to the collaborative efforts of Punjab University. Additionally, he provided valuable professional advice to the graduates as they embark on their respective careers.
Professor Dr. Zakaria Zakar extended his appreciation to the Institute for the invitation and conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating class. He emphasized the pivotal role of education in shaping the future of individuals and societies, underscoring the global demand for the degree programs offered by the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. Encouraging the graduates to embrace modern technological advancements, he urged them to utilize social media platforms for continuous learning and skill enhancement.
The convocation ceremony conferred degrees upon students from various programs including Doctor of Physiotherapy, BS Anesthesia Technology, BS Medical Lab Technology, BS Optometry, BS Dental Technology, BS Operation Theatre Technology, BS Cardiac Profusion Technology, and BS Medical Imaging Technology (Session 2017-2021), symbolizing their academic achievements and readiness to contribute to the healthcare sector and beyond.
