Punjab University (PU) Institute of Geology students including Ayesha Ijaz, Maha Ali and Gull Fatima clinched first, second and third positions respectively in the Geology and Geophysics Student’s Paper Contest in the 28th Annual Technical Conference (ATC) 2022.
The conference was organized by the Pakistan Association of Petroleum Geologists (PAPG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and held at Serena hotel Islamabad, Pakistan. The students have completed and presented their research work under the supervision of Prof. Dr Naveed Ahsan and Dr Muhammad Armaghan Faisal Miraj.
Annual Technical Conference is an exciting technical event of the upstream Oil and Gas industry of Pakistan. This conference brings forward the latest technical presentations from both G & G and Petroleum Engineering disciplines showcasing technologies, ideas and processes intended to be used by the Oil and Gas industry in the country. It is the first time in the history of (ATC) that all three position holders are from the University of Punjab.
Punjab University Library celebrated its 5th Book Club anniversary and arranged the book’s introductory talks. Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani, Assistant Professor Dr Shahzeb Khan, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
The two books of the month were “Pothohar: Khita-i-Dilruba” by Shahid Saddique and “What We Owe the Future” by William Macaskill. Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani presented the talk on the Urdu biography of Shahid Saddique “Pothohar: Khita-i-Dilruba”. He in his literary manner narrated some beautiful extracts from the book while describing the culture and history of the Pothohar region.
Dr Shahzeb Khan presented the talk on the Book of William Macaskill. He discussed the main themes of the book and urged the audience to realize their responsibility and play their role in revitalizing the world for the coming generations.
