The event, attended by Punjab University (PU) Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, DG PU Dr Rehan Sadiq Sheikh, Director of Students Affairs Dr Shahzeb Khan, Chairman Hall Council Dr Mahboob Hussain, faculty members, police officers, and a large gathering of students, sought to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Addressing the audience, DIG Kamran underscored the importance of collective responsibility in establishing a peaceful society. “Young students are the assets of Pakistan who can take the country forward,” he stated. Highlighting the efforts of Punjab Police, he mentioned initiatives such as open courts held daily from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., where citizens can seek resolution for their grievances.

Drawing comparisons with foreign countries, DIG Kamran stressed the need for adherence to laws in Pakistan. “In other countries, no one dares to break the law, but here, even banned activities like kite flying are carried out openly,” he remarked. He also pointed out the lack of compliance with traffic rules, which has resulted in a rise in accidents.

DIG Kamran further emphasized the necessity of creating a society where women feel safe in public spaces. Expressing gratitude to Punjab University for hosting the event, he called for continued collaboration between academic institutions and law enforcement agencies.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Mahmood highlighted the importance of events that build trust between institutions and the public. “There are laws in Pakistan, but the real issue lies in their implementation,” he noted.

Director of Students Affairs Dr Shahzeb Khan affirmed the university’s commitment to guiding students and nurturing them as responsible citizens. “Graduates from Punjab University are excelling globally and contributing positively to society,” he added.

The session concluded with a collective resolve to empower students as agents of peace and to strengthen the relationship between the public and law enforcement for a safer Pakistan.
