Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar stated that PU will provide full support to Pakistan Railway (PR) in its various projects so that it can improve service delivery to the masses.

He was addressing a training program, jointly organized by Punjab University Institute of Quality & Technology Management (IQTM) and the Directorate of Education, Pakistan Railways. In his address, the VC assured Pakistan Railways officers that PU will provide full support for the effective functioning of Pakistan Railways Schools, Medical Facilities and Sports activities.

He said that Pakistan Railways Schools have functioned effectively in past decades. This is indicated by the fact that several PU faculty members completed their education from Pakistan Railways Schools, he added.

Director IQTM PU Prof Dr Muhammad Usman Awan said that IQTM and newly established Faculty of Quality & Industrial Systems Engineering will provide full support to Pakistan Railway for projects of National importance like ML-I Project. General Manager Welfare and Special Initiatives, Pakistan Railways Shoaib Adil appreciated the support provided by the University and proposed that the training needs assessment will be done in collaboration with PU faculty members so that both National Institutions i.e. Pakistan Railways and PU may have long-term sustainable collaboration.

Chairman, Department of History and Pakistan Studies Prof Dr Mahboob Hussain, Chairman Department of Software Engineering Prof Dr Muhammad Murtaza Yousaf, Dr Azeem Intesar, Dr Saima Saleem and various teachers from Pakistan Railways Schools were also present on this occasion.
