LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad has congratulated Kalyan Singh Kalyan on completing his PhD degree from Punjab University. In this regard, a ceremony was held in his honor at Committee Room of Vice Chancellor’s office. The religious leader of all the Sikhs in the world Mr Singh Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpveet Singh Jathedar Sri Aakal Takhat Sahib from Amritsar, India especially participated in the event. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee President Sardar Amir Singh, PSGPC member Satwant Singh and King Edward Medical University’s Assistant Professor Dr Mimpal Singh were present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad said that Prime Minsiter Imran Khan had taken several initiatives to facilitate Sikh community in Pakistan and Kartarpur Corridor was his gift to the Sikhs living in both the countries and the world.

Congratulating Kalyan Singh, he said that his PhD was an emblem that Sikhs were being encouraged in every field in Pakistan. He said that the incumbent administration had also recruited a Sikh in Grade 17 for the first time in PU. Giani Harpveet Singh Jathedar said that he was happy to see that Sikh community was moving forward in Pakistan. He said that the PhD of Kalyan Singh was an honor for Sikhs in Pakistan and we knew that many initiatives had been taken to facilitate Sikh community in the country. He said that people living in both Punjabs loved each other. Later, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad presented souvenir to Harpveet Singh Jathedar and thanked him for this arrival in Pakistan. Mr Kalyan Singh has completed his degree in the subject of Punjabi after approval of his thesis entitled ‘Life & Teaching of Guru Nanak’.
