A cake cutting ceremony was organized to promote inter-religious harmony by Punjab University’s (PU) Christian community. While addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad said that we must follow the teaching of Prophets as all of them have preached to promote love, brotherhood and peace in the world.
Pro Vice Chancellor PU Saleem Mazhar, Iqbal Chawla of Department of History and Pakistan Studies, Registrar Khalid Khan, President Punjab University Academic Staff Association Dr Mumtaz Anwar, Resident Officer II Jaleel Tariq, leader of Punjab University Christian community Chaudhry Mushtaq Masih, Bishop Arif Khurram, Christian employees and their families were present on the occasion.
Punjab University’s Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad said that minorities were enjoying their rights in Pakistan. He said that Punjab University was also providing them equal opportunities at all levels and they were getting employment opportunities on merit. He said that their excellent performance added beauty to the environment of campus. Vice Chancellor advised the Christian employees to equip their children with education and announced an honorarium for Christian employees on the eve of Christmas. Later, the Vice Chancellor along with others cut the Christmas cake.
