LAHORE: Punjab Education Minister Dr Murad Raas said that the school education department has launched Mera School Program (My School Program) to address the lack of facilities in public schools.
As per the”Mera School Program”, missing facilities in the public schools including establishing computer labs and lunch meals could be funded through relevant district administration. NGOs and philanthropists can invest in the newly launched program in a bid to bring change and improvement in the education system.
He was addressing a press conference at the DGPR office along with Special Assistant for Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.
The Education Minister also said that the School Admission Campaign 2021 was organized by the School Education Department last month and aims to bring one million students back to school in a year.
“In 45 days we have enrolled 246,000 children in these COVID conditions. More than 155,000 girls. Remarkable work done by our team at the School Education Department and we aim to enroll one million children back to school in the current drive,” Dr Murad Raas said.
The School Education Department (SED) has received ‘Birth Certificate Forms’ of 150 million children. Dr Murad Raas said that all these forms, submitted by the parents, would be verified by NADRA. He added that people are being socially motivated with the help of district administration, EAOs, head teachers and school councils to bring the children back to school.
