Punjab Government to Keep a Tab on Students’ Health

LinkedIn

Punjab Government, through the official notification of the School Education Department (SED), has asked the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all the District Education Authorities (DEAs) of the province to prepare a schedule for the visit of psychiatrists and prepare the health profile of students in Government and Private educational institutions in the province.

In a letter issued to the DEAs, they had been tasked to prepare a suitable schedule in their respective jurisdictions and communicate the same with the Primary and Secondary Health Department (PSHD), Government of Punjab. The Health Department, in turn, had been requested to provide psychiatrists to visit the schools.

The move was aimed at curtailing the supply and use of narcotics in educational institutions of the province. In the letter, it had been directed that the whole exercise of preparing the health profiles had to be completed before March 31, 2020. The DEAs had been further instructed to compile and send a report to the School Education Department, Government of the Punjab.

The same instructions had also been forwarded to the Higher Education Department (HED), Government of the Punjab.

It is worth mentioning that the School Education Department had issued a notification in December, 2019 in connection with standard operating procedure (SOP) to maintain health profile of all students of public and private schools in Punjab.
