The Punjab Government had asked the Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) of all the District Education Authorities (DEAs) of the province to prepare schedule for the visit of psychiatrists and prepare health profile of students in different educational institutions of the province.
In a letter issued to the DEAs, they had been tasked to prepare a suitable schedule in their respective jurisdictions and communicate the same with the Primary and Secondary Health Department. The Health Department, in turn, had been requested to provide psychiatrists to visit the schools.
The move was aimed at curtailing the supply and use of narcotics in educational institutions of the province. In the letter, it had been directed that the whole exercise of preparing the health profiles had to be completed before March 31, 2020. The DEAs had been further instructed to compile and send a report to the Punjab School Education Department.
The same instructions had also been forwarded to the Punjab Higher Education Department.
