LAHORE: Punjab government launched the School Meal Program at a ceremony held at City District Government School Lahore. Minister School Education Dr Murad Raas inaugurated the event.
Under the program, free mid-day meals will be provided to the students of the school with the support of Allah Wallay Trust and Honda Pakistan.
SED’s School Meal Program is an initiative that provides mid-day meals to primary school students. Students in schools with School Meal Program have shown an approximate 77 percent healthy increase in their BMI levels.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Murad Raas stated that the program will be gradually expanded to address the issues of malnutrition and stunted growth among young students. The Minister called on the private sector to join hands in this noble initiative. He added that his will have a good impact on the attendance, health, and retention of students in schools where the program has already been initiated.
