Punjab Lifts Teacher Transfer Ban – Hundreds Apply Within Hours

In a landmark move, the Punjab government has officially lifted the long-standing ban on teacher transfers, leading to an overwhelming response from educators across the province. According to 24NewsHD TV channel, hundreds of applications poured in on the very first day following the announcement.

Sources revealed that the flood of requests began within hours, as teachers seized the opportunity to apply for preferred postings. The revised transfer policy allows movements strictly under defined categories: promotions, mutual transfers, disposals, and administrative adjustments.

Educators now have until April 13 to submit their applications. Authorities have stated that final transfer orders will be issued after April 30, providing sufficient time for review and processing.

The decision is being welcomed as a step toward improving staffing efficiency and meeting long-standing demands of schoolteachers, many of whom have been awaiting the chance to relocate for personal or professional reasons.

Officials expect the new policy to bring balance to teacher distribution in government schools across Punjab, while also enhancing morale among teaching staff.
