Punjab starts vaccination for teachers

LAHORE: Punjab government has started vaccination for teachers and non-teaching staff of educational institutions on Friday.
A vaccination Center was also inaugurated by Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas at Government Pilot School Wahdat Road Lahore. At the vaccination center there are four counters established for screening while four are also for vaccination of teachers.

While addressing on occasion, Murad Raas observed that There are 16,000 teachers and 4,000 non-teaching staff in the province and the government is trying to complete the vaccination of all teachers before reopening schools from June 7.
He said that this year, summer vacations in schools will be for only two to three weeks as students have suffered a lot due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that teachers can get vaccinated after showing their National Identity Card and job certificate, while this opportunity can also be availed by teachers of private schools for free.  Vaccination of teachers will be started in 9 other regional headquarters of Punjab, he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Rashid said the vaccination process is underway and 3.5 million people have been given the jab in the province. “Our target is to achieve 150,000 daily vaccination. Implementation of SOPs and vaccine is the only solution to COVID-19,” she said. Rashid added that the government is working to vaccinate teachers before schools reopen.
