In a celebration of academic excellence, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif lauded the top achievers from Punjab’s educational boards during an award ceremony. The ceremony highlighted the outstanding performance of students who excelled despite facing numerous challenges, including inadequate facilities and limited resources.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her pride in the achievements of the students. “We are very pleased that out of 138 position holders across nine boards in Punjab, 70 are girls and 68 are boys,” she said. Her words underscored the balanced representation of both genders among the top achievers, reflecting a promising trend towards gender parity in education.

The Chief Minister also reaffirmed her government’s commitment to improving the quality of education in public schools. In a significant announcement, she revealed the launch of a new meal program in schools, set to begin on September 5. “To combat nutritional deficiencies, we will provide milk packs to students from nursery to fifth grade,” she stated, adding that the pilot phase would commence in South Punjab. This initiative aims to address the nutritional needs of young students, ensuring they have the energy and focus required for academic success.

Further strengthening the government’s support for education, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif introduced a Rs25 billion scholarship program designed to assist talented students in pursuing higher education. The scholarships will cover tuition fees at prestigious institutions, including LUMS, GIKI, IBA, COMSATS, and FAST. “The Punjab government will cover their tuition fees,” she announced, making higher education more accessible to deserving students from diverse backgrounds.

The ceremony was a moment of pride and joy for the students, their parents, and teachers, all of whom were recognized for their contributions to the students’ success. As the government rolls out these new initiatives, the future looks brighter for Punjab’s educational landscape, with greater opportunities for students to excel and contribute to the province’s development.
