Rana Tanveer Hussain has been sworn in as the new Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT). He took oath from Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani on Tuesday along with other 33 cabinet members at President House Islamabad. His political affiliation is with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN).

Born on October 1, 1949, Rana Tanveer has been a member of the National Assembly (NA) since August 2018. Previously, he was a member of the NA between 1985 and May 2018. He had served as Minister for Defense Production and Minister for Science and Technology, in Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s cabinet from 2017 to 2018. Previously he served as the Minister for Defense Production and the Minister for Science and Technology. He has also served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Finance from 1997 to 1999 as well Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister.

Rana Tanveer Hussain tweeted on Tuesday in which he said, “I am thankful to my Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif & PM Shehbaz Sharif for honoring me with the responsibility of Minister for Education. I will do my best to bring a positive change to our education sector & address all pending matters of students and institutions, Insha Allah”.
