Rector NUST honored with PEC Excellence Award

In recognition of his meritorious contributions to the field of Engineering and S&T development in Pakistan, Rector National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari has been conferred the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Excellence Award – 2021 (Lifetime Achievement) by the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi.

A graduate of Cranfield University, UK; Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad; University of Balochistan (UoB) Quetta; and Military College of Engineering (MCE) Risalpur, Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari has held many prestigious positions during his illustrious career spanning over 35 years.

Prior to assuming the charge of Rector NUST, he has served as Director General Frontier Works Organization (FWO), and Commandant NUST Military College of Engineering (MCE), besides remaining on the faculty of MCE, National Defense University (NDU) Islamabad, Command & Staff College (CSC) Quetta, and Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Abbottabad.

Under Engr Bukhari’s continuing stint as Rector NUST, the university has made monumental strides forward vis-a-vis international standing and visibility, academic and research pursuits, disruptive innovation, result-oriented partnership with industry and so on.

His major contributions as Rector NUST inter alia include the expansion of Pakistan’s first S&T Park – the National Science & Technology Park, the establishment of the School of Interdisciplinary Engineering & Science (SINES), School of Health Sciences (under construction), the introduction of new programs of study, labs, etc.

Under his sagacious leadership, God willing NUST is fully poised to achieve new heights of glory.
