Riphah University denies rumors of dead bodies

The Riphah International University (RIU) has denied allegations and rumors on social media regarding dead bodies inside campus or female hostels.

Zubair Safdar, Head of Students Affairs Department, Riphah International University in a tweet, denied all allegations and said that the varsity is in contact with the Cybercrime Wing (CCW) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

He wrote, “Fake news are circulating about female students of Riphah International University. No such incident occurred with the University or any student. University is in contact with cyber-crime department and legal action will be taken against those for spreading fake news.”

Islamabad Police also took to Twitter to further clarify the position and tweeted that Islamabad Police didn’t receive any such complaint or information, The University had also denied any such incident, and still, police are further investigating the matter.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Riphah International University is a private sector university and chartered by the Federal Government. Since yesterday news regarding dead bodies of two female students found in new females’ hostels of Riphah University, located in a private housing society on Islamabad Expressway, was circulating on social media. However, the claiming tweets were deleted later.
