The Chinese Embassy donates Rs.3.76 million (120,000 Yuan) to the Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS) of Sargodha University (SU) for establishing the ‘Chinese Ambassador Scholarship program 2023.
The funding will be used to award scholarships to the most talented as well as promising needy students besides promoting Chinese language and cultural activities at the University.
The Vice-Chancellor of Sargodha University Prof Dr Qasir Abbas appreciated the initiative of the Chinese Embassy and stated that this goodwill gesture will create a significant impact on the lives of students and generate a healthy competition among the students to win the Awards.
The Vice-Chancellor in a short span of time has taken several initiatives to strengthen China Studies and link the University with several Chinese institutions to ensure quality education – one of the central points of his vision. Dr Fazal ur Rahman, Director of the Pakistan Institute of China Studies, received the Donation-Cheque from the Chinese Ambassador HE Nong Rong at the Embassy. The Chinese Ambassador assuring his support appreciated the efforts undertaken by the University of Sargodha and PICS for running a successful China Studies Program.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sargodha Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas also presented a cheque of Rs4.3 million to Governor Punjab and Chancellor, Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman for flood-affected people from the faculty, staff and students of the University.
Briefing the premier about flood relief activities of the university
Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas expressed that the university had also handed over a truck loaded with relief goods including flour, wheat, rice, ghee, dry fruits, biscuits, milk, juice, water, blankets, bed sheets, carpets, shawls, shoes, mosquito net, wool matters, pillows, prayer rug, towels, medicine and other daily necessities for the flood affected people. The VC also apprised the adoption of the Punjab Regularization of Services Act 2018.
