The Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Sargodha (UoS) held an impactful Photojournalism Exhibition today, showcasing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through compelling visual narratives. The event was inaugurated by several distinguished guests, including Prof Dr Ahmad Raza Bilal, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC); Bushra Gul, Incharge of the Institute of Art and Design; Dr Muhammad Irfan, Director of the Pakistan Institute of China Studies and the Confucius Institute; and Dr Mudassar Hussain Shah, Chairperson of the Department of Communication and Media Studies. Faculty members and students were also present to mark this significant occasion.

Prof Dr Ahmad Raza Bilal, in his opening address, underscored the importance of innovation, productivity, and community impact in university-led projects. He praised the exhibition for its focus on pressing societal issues and urged the national media to take note of the stories depicted in the photographs.
Bushra Gul commended the students for their creative endeavors and highlighted the potential for future collaborations between the Institute of Art and Design and the Department of Communication and Media Studies. She emphasized that such partnerships could lead to more dynamic and impactful projects in the future.
Dr Muhammad Irfan spoke about the necessity of collective efforts among all university faculties to achieve shared objectives. He pointed out that Pakistan is currently focusing on the first seven SDGs and called for increased investment in higher education to make substantial progress.
Dr Mudassar Hussain Shah applauded the dedication of the students and their supervisor, Israr Ahmad. He reaffirmed the University of Sargodha’s commitment to integrating the UN Development Goals into its framework of innovation, research, productivity, and teaching. Under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Qaiser Abbas, the university continues to strive towards these global objectives.
The exhibition not only celebrated the artistic talents of the students but also served as a powerful reminder of the role that visual storytelling can play in advancing societal goals. The event was a testament to the university’s dedication to fostering awareness and action towards sustainable development through education and innovation.
