In a groundbreaking move, the University of Sargodha (UoS) has signed two historic agreements with leading Chinese institutions, aimed at transforming healthcare, advancing education, and strengthening ties under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The agreements, inked with Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM) and Tianjin Sansheng Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., mark the establishment of Pakistan’s first Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a state-of-the-art 200-bed teaching hospital. The hospital, co-managed by Tianjin Sansheng, is expected to become operational by 2025. The collaboration will also include student exchange programs, faculty training, and cutting-edge joint research.
In addition to healthcare advancements, the partnership introduces a citrus processing unit in Sargodha, designed to enhance the region’s agricultural productivity and trade potential.
UoS has also joined hands with Nankai University to foster academic cooperation through student and faculty exchanges, joint degree programs, and shared research initiatives. This collaboration will see the creation of joint laboratories, promoting innovation and educational excellence across borders.
At the signing ceremony, UoS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas emphasized the significance of these partnerships. “I am deeply grateful to our Chinese partners for their unwavering support and commitment. These initiatives will not only strengthen Pakistan-China relations but also pave the way for a brighter future for our students and communities,” he stated.
He further announced plans for an international boarding school in Sargodha, envisioned as a hub for global cultural exchange and high-quality education.
The Chinese delegation lauded the agreements, highlighting their role in reinforcing the deep-rooted Pakistan-China friendship. “These agreements showcase the strength of Pakistan-China relations and are a step forward in fostering global academic and cultural collaboration,” a spokesperson said.
The partnerships signal a new era for UoS, positioning it as a key player in international academic and healthcare innovation while contributing to regional development and cultural ties.
