Sargodha University Strengthens Pakistan-China Academic Ties

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha (UoS), Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas, has successfully concluded a strategic visit to China, aiming to enhance academic collaboration, promote joint research, and foster technological innovation between Pakistan and China. This visit marks a significant milestone in advancing bilateral educational and technological cooperation.

During the visit, UoS signed multiple agreements, including one with Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to introduce a TCM program at the University of Sargodha under the Transnational Education (TNE) policy. The initiative is expected to enrich Pakistan’s medical education by incorporating traditional Chinese healing practices.

In a major development, the two institutions also agreed to establish a China-Pak Technology Transfer Center. This center will focus on research, innovation, and technology transfer in fields such as information technology, engineering, and related disciplines, aiming to foster advancements that benefit both countries.

At Nankai University, Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas held meetings with academic leaders to explore joint research opportunities in economics, pharmaceutical sciences, and other emerging fields. The delegation also signed agreements with the Civil Aviation University of China, paving the way for faculty and student exchange programs that are set to begin later this year.

Prof. Abbas further represented UoS at the Annual World Agriculture Food Innovation Conference held in Beijing and visited the Agricultural Zhongguancun Science Park. There, he signed an intent of cooperation to develop an agro-based company in Sargodha, aiming to strengthen local agricultural industries with cutting-edge Chinese technology and research.

Additionally, UoS formalized multiple partnerships with Chinese institutions through several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). These include a collaboration with Tang International Education to promote technical education in Pakistan and a partnership with the Action Academy of the Beijing Film and Television Research Institute to enhance cooperation in film and media studies.

Speaking about the outcomes of the visit, Dr Qaisar Abbas emphasized that these agreements would play a crucial role in advancing academic, cultural, and technological exchanges between Pakistan and China. “These collaborations will not only promote knowledge sharing but also drive technological innovation, paving the way for mutual growth,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor’s successful visit signals a new era of academic diplomacy between the two countries, with UoS emerging as a key player in fostering Pakistan-China educational and technological cooperation.
