SAU and PSIM set up medical camp for flood victims

Under the patronage of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tondojam, and with the collaboration of the Pakistan Society of International Medicine (PSIM), a medical camp was organized for rain victims in Goth Rozddin Marri, which was inaugurated by the former vice chancellor of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Dr Bikha Ram Devrajani. On the instructions of the Vice Chancellor of SAU, Dr Fateh Muhammad Murri, a free medical camp was organized for the victims of rain in Village Rozuddin Marri of Haji Sawan Khan Gopang, Union Council of Hyderabad Rural, under the joint cooperation of the Self-Help Society, SAU, and the Pakistan Society of International Medicine.

General physician Dr. Bekha Ram Devrajani, Skin, Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Cardiovascular Specialists examined the patients and provided free medicines. The official inauguration of the camp was done by Dr. Bekha Ram, Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Prof. Dr. Aijaz Soomro, Mohib Ali Marri, and others, while special diagnostic rooms for women and children were established during the camp, where more than 800 patients of the area, women, children were treated and free medicines were provided to them. In this regard, the doctors of Kunar Oilfield of OGDCL and the staff of the Medical Dispensary of Sindh Agriculture University also rendered their services in the camp.

Speaking to the media on this occasion, Prof Dr Bikha Ram Devrajani said that due to the rains, various diseases are arising, including skin, dengue and malaria in 80 percent of the patients, while due to lack of proper treatment facilities, diabetes and Blood pressure patients were also affected, he said that various diseases including gastro, diarrhea were found in the children. “We are trying to organize these camps so that the rain victims can get treatment as soon as possible.” He added.

Professor Dr. Aijaz Ali Khoharo, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences of Sindh Agriculture University, said that on the instructions of Dr. Fateh Marri, Vice Chancellor, university experts are working on the damage caused to agriculture due to rain, as well as the university has set up free medical camps for rain-affected animals and birds, where the university provides free treatment and medicines.

Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Director of Advancement and Financial Assistance, giving details about the camp, said that the free medical camp was started after the establishment of a relief camp by the students’ self-help society of the university. He told that under the direction of Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri, more medical camps will also be set up in other areas and a camp will be set up in Tandojam for the treatment of rain-affected pregnant women and children.

Dr. Aijaz Soomro, Dr. Shahzad Nahyoon, Asadullah Marri, Muhammad Ashraf Rustamani, Dr Faisal Ansari and others were also present on this occasion. At the same time, transport facilities were also provided to bring the rain victims from different areas to the camp.
