The federal government has decided to offer need-based scholarships to deserving students from the funds of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). These scholarships from BISP would be channeled through the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to needy and talented male and female students, the sources told APP.
Under the programme, students would be offered financial assistance to carry out their higher education in leading national and international universities. The students who wish to apply for the programme will have to submit document proofs, explaining the financial constraints of their respective families. The students will also attach their obtained degrees to access or check their educational eligibility for the programmes, the sources added.
After reviewing the documents, the Higher Education Commission officials would shortlist the selected candidates on merit basis. For the offering, funds will be transferred to the Higher Education Commission account by BISP.
