All government schools would be transformed into science technology schools, said Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday. Talking to a private TV channel, he said developed countries across the globe were employing modern technology for securing a bright future for their upcoming generations.

The minister said the future of Pakistan belongs to advancement in technology and it was the right time to embrace it, in order to move ahead and keep pace with other third world countries. Chaudhry said the ministry in collaboration with the education ministry would provide modern technology in government schools, in a bid to transform these schools into centres of knowledge and innovation.

Chaudhry said in the first phase the plan more than 1500 government schools have been chosen. Under the plan, the government would soon introduce technology-based education modules and courses for students. “The program will equip government students to compete with other students from any part of the world”, he added.

Emphasizing on the pertinence of digital education in the country, Chaudhry said “We have to support our technology companies and facilitate our future generation to acquire scientific and technological education to meet the latest requirements. Digital education is the key to success in this modern era full of technologies.”

The minister said very few educational institutes were providing digital education facilities, however, this ratio was expected to increase through the upcoming digital initiatives by the government in future.
