Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched multiple initiatives on Monday aimed at equipping the youth with modern education and skills to contribute effectively to Pakistan’s development. He assured full government support to young achievers across various fields.
The initiatives, announced on International Youth Day, include the Commonwealth Asia Youth Alliance Secretariat in Islamabad, a Digital Learning Portal, the AI for Youth Program, Smart Youth Smart Pakistan, and the National Volunteer Corps. These programs are designed to prepare young Pakistanis for contemporary challenges.
During a ceremony in Islamabad, the prime minister expressed confidence that these initiatives would ignite a “revolution” by empowering the youth with the necessary education and skills. He emphasized the potential of Pakistan’s youth, who constitute 79 percent of the population, to elevate the nation if provided with modern resources.
This year, the federal government plans to distribute 1 million smartphones, tablets, and laptops to top-performing students nationwide, including those in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and remote areas of Balochistan. Additionally, the government will fund the education of 1,000 Pakistani agricultural graduates in China to help boost the country’s agricultural production using modern technology.
Prime Minister Sharif also announced that Huawei would provide IT training and advanced education to 200,000 young Pakistanis. He further stated that a comprehensive development plan for the country would be unveiled on August 14.
The prime minister praised Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem for winning Olympic gold and pledged to support the revival of the national sport, hockey.
