Sichuan university express solidarity with IUB’s flood affected students

China’s Sichuan Agricultural University Vice President Professor Dr Lu Yanli wrote a special letter to Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob and Director Intercropping Technology Dr Muhammad Ali Raza and expressed his regret over the recent rains and floods in Pakistan.

The ongoing aid campaign for the flood victims by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is getting great recognition at the national and international level.

He also expressed his grief to the flood-affected university teachers and students and said that the teachers and students of Sichuan Agriculture University are standing with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in the hour of trouble. China and Pakistan have a long-standing friendship.

The IUB and Sichuan Agriculture University are cooperating in many fields and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur sends its best students to Sichuan Agriculture University for higher education. He expressed hope that the affected students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur will face this natural calamity steadfastly and return to their daily life as soon as possible.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur flood relief camp has so far provided aid worth Rs 50 lac to the flood affected areas. Focal Person of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for relief campaign for flood victims Prof Dr Asif Naveed Ranjha said that Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also cooperating with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in relief activities and soon the consignment of relief campaign will be sent to Rahim Yar Khan.

Senior Tutor and Chairman Department of Media and Communication Studies Prof Dr Abdul Wajid Khan said that in the past few days, relief materials worth Rs 25 lac were distributed by the students of Performing Art Society in the flood affected areas of Rajanpur. The faculty members of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Rahim Yar Khan Campus distributed ration, tents and clothes to more than 40 flood affected families yesterday.

Director Rahim Yar Khan Campus Mian Muhammad Umair Ashraf said that under the supervision of Asadullah Lecturer of Mathematics Department, more than 300 flood affected families received relief goods of worth more than 10 lac including sugar, rice, dry ration, tarpals and cots. Insha Allah, Rahim Yar Khan Campus will soon distribute relief materials to more than 300 affected families in the next phase.
