Sindh allocates 326.8 billion for education in budget 2022-23

The Sindh government for the Fiscal Year 2022-23 allocated Rs. 326.80 billion to the education sector which forms more than 25% of the total budget outlay.

For the Fiscal Year 2021-22, the provincial government had allocated Rs277.5 billion to the education sector enhancing the education budget of Rs 244.5 billion of FY 2020-21.

Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah while presenting the budget for 2022-23 on the floor Sindh Assembly on Tuesday said that the education sector is being given a total allocation of Rs. 326.86 billion.

“The non-development budget has been enhanced from Rs. 268.41 billion during CFY 2021-22 to Rs. 292.639 billion for the next financial year. Whereas, Rs.34.22 billion have been earmarked as development budget for School Education Department”.

He said that the allocation for the college education is increased in the non-development budget from Rs. 22.860 billion in the year 2021-22 to Rs. 26.768 billion in the next financial year 2022-23.

The allocation for the Universities & Boards department is increased in the non-development budget from Rs. 13.314 billion in the year 2021-22 to Rs. 18.704 billion in the next financial year 2022-23. The grant to universities has been enhanced from Rs. 9.4 billion during CFY 2021-22 to Rs. 14.3 billion for the next financial year.
