While addressing a press conference, the Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah has said that the educational intuitions having 100 per cent vaccinated staffers and teachers would be reopened on August 30.

He said that the provincial government kept the schools closed for another seven days because there was a possibility of Covid-19 spread. The education department is looking for a permanent solution to the Covid-19 and the only way is vaccination.

He said that those parents who got vaccinated can send their children to school. The government wants to make sure the safety of children at schools. At present around 80 percent teachers and staffers of private institutions have been vaccinated. Therefore, in consultation with the Chief Minister, the education department has decided to reopen those schools of which staffers and teachers are 100 percent are vaccinated.

The minister said that education is also planning to accelerate the vaccination process so that we could freely allow physical classes and overcome the spread of Covid-19. It’s an ethical responsibility of the parents, teachers and administrators to cooperate with the government.

Earlier in a meeting with the owners of privately managed schools, he said that the provincial government is serious to address the concerns of private schools owners. We agreed that the schools will be functioning in two shifts in a week, one shift for three days and another shift for the last three days. However, the schools’ administrators would be bound to provide vaccination reports to the concerned authority.

The minister said that all educational institutions will be opened across the province after making sure that staffers and teachers are 100 percent vaccinated. The private schools had requested teachers to come before the school reopened to plan for the academic year, after which they have been allowed to call the vaccinated staff from tomorrow.

Sardar Shah said that ID card numbers of parents will be taken to check whether they have been vaccinated or not. Our main objective is to increase the rate of vaccination among parents so that the schools can be opened permanently.

The minister admitted that online schooling has failed all over the world, so we have decided to complete the vaccination before reopening of educational institutions.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Inspection and Registration Sind issued a circular allowing those schools of which staffers are 100 percent vaccination, to reopen from Today. “It is to inform that education minister is please to allow principals of all privately managed schools in Sindh to call staff members who have been 100 percent vaccinated for preparation of lesson planning with effect of from August 24”.
