In a significant development, the Sindh government has reached a crucial decision regarding the National Medical and Dental College Admission Test 2023 (MDCAT). Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (R) Maqbool Baqar has ordered the re-administration of the exam across the province, with the administration now entrusted to the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Karachi.

This decision comes in response to the controversy surrounding the previous MDCAT, which was conducted under the supervision of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU). The integrity of the exam was compromised when the paper leaked 4-5 hours prior to the scheduled test time.

To address this issue, a government-appointed inquiry committee conducted a thorough investigation, leading to their recommendation for a re-examination of the MDCAT. In a move to ensure accountability, the caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh also engaged the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to identify those responsible for the leak and subject them to legal proceedings.

Notably, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has also ruled in favor of the KP provincial government, issuing an order for the re-administration of the MDCAT within a period of six weeks. This decisive step aims to uphold the integrity and fairness of the examination process, vital for the future of medical and dental education in the region.
