In a significant move towards digital transformation, the Sindh Education Department (SELD) has announced the development of a mobile application aimed at digitizing attendance records for teachers and staff, as well as student enrollment data. The initiative seeks to enhance transparency, performance monitoring, and resource allocation through advanced digital tools.
During a meeting chaired by Sindh’s Education Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, in Karachi on Wednesday, officials unveiled plans for the app, which will feature biometric and location-based attendance systems. The app will integrate an Iris Recognition System for facial identification, ensuring secure and accurate attendance tracking. Additionally, Geofencing Technology will restrict attendance marking to school premises, while offline functionality will allow data synchronization once internet access is restored.
The system will also include features for logging check-in and check-out times, managing leave applications, and generating detailed attendance reports. Minister Shah emphasized that this digital shift aims to foster transparency and accountability, ensuring resources are utilized effectively based on reliable data. Key attendees at the meeting included Secretary of School Education Zahid Ali Abbasi, DG Monitoring & Evaluation Mola Bakhsh Sheikh, and Deputy Director Ghazi Khan Mehr, among others.
