Bureau of Students, Tutorial Guidance Counseling Services & Co-Curricular Activities (STAGS) at the University of Sindh (SU) organized an inter-departmental multilingual singing competition in a bid to strengthen the cultural life of students, provide them with an opportunity to express their talents and make the campus environment exciting.

As many as 60 male and female students took part in the competition which was held in the Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of the Arts Faculty Building.

A student of the Department of English Language & Literature SU’s Laar Campus Badin Rafia Turk was declared the best singer by the judges by awarding her the first position, while Barat Zulfiqar hailing from SU’s Institute of Business Administration and Uzair Ahmed belonging to the Institute of English Language and Literature were given the second and third positions respectively.

During the event, the gallery of the auditorium was also over-crowded with the male and female students. The singing of the 60 students who participated in the competition was melodious, passionate and inspiring.

The audience danced to the songs and applauded their peers during their performance. The charming combination of music, dance, laughter and the mellow voices of the students added to the warmth of the atmosphere.

The singing style of the young male and female students of different departments of the University of Sindh also impressed the guest of the event Ustad Mazhar Hussain and other judges. They could not help clapping on the occasion.

The students were so melodious and tuneful that it became difficult for the judges to decide on the first, second and third positions.

Deputy Director Bureau of STAGS Dr. Mubarak Ali Lashari said that the performance of the students who participated in the singing competition was excellent.

He said that singing was a big field, but Sindhi music was going to decline due to non-production of quality tunes and copy culture.

He thanked the Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro for his all-out support and said that the event had been possible with the cooperation and assistance of Dr. Kalhoro.

Faculty members Khaleeque Zaman Mahesar, Azeem Akhtar Bhatti, Nadia Samo, Security Officer Kashif Ali Narejo, Saddam Hussain Mugheri and many other teachers and a number of male and female students were present on the occasion.
