To mark International Women’s Day, Nawai Kutubkhana (Library) of the Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) organized a women mushaira under the title of “Sinf e Nazuk Ke Khupsurat Roop” at the campus and eminent female poets of the country came to the mushaira and presented their poetry. Famous poet Nasim Nazish presided the session, while renowned poet Saima Nafees conducted the literary event.

Speaking on the auspicious occasion, the Chancellor, SSUET, Jawaid Anwar, said that every aspect of a woman is beautiful and any form of woman is a gift of nature without which universe might be colorless. Nation and society can never grow without the participation of women. They are playing a significant role in the development of society through their knowledge and skills. Women writers are also contributing a lot to the development and promotion of literature.

Female poets who presented their poetry on the occasion included Hijab Abbasi, Farzana Sahab Mirza, Anjum Usman, Yasmeen Yaas, Parveen Haider, Mehar Jamali and Irene Haider. They enthralled the audience with their beautiful poetry that reflected the trends of the society. Feminine expression and perception was prominent in their poetry with deep aesthetic touch.

At the end of the Mehfil e Mushaira, Librarian Shaeen Ateeq and Sarwat Zulfiqar presented the boutique and souvenirs to the female poets.
