The Schools Education and Literacy Department (SLED) has asked the employees of the department to get Covid-19 vaccination within a week as it would be mandatory for them.

A circular issued on Tuesday reads “SLED has made Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for the employees working at the education department. Therefore, all the officers, non-teaching staffers, and teachers should immediately get vaccination”.

In this regard, the government has introduced SMS services. “The failure to comply will adversely affect the reopening of schools and may lead to serious consequences for the defaulters. The employees who have got the vaccination should provide a copy of the vaccination card to their respective heads of the institutions”.

In the earlier notification the department in pursuance to the NCOC decision made on May 9 had suspended classroom teaching & learning activities from class ECE to XII in all the public & private institutions till May 23 which was again extended to June 6 due to prevailing conditions of COVID-19 Pandemic.

However, the principals were given the authority to call minimum staff to the school premises on a rotation basis for managing the home learning activities through online classes and homework assignments to be given to the students through WhatsApp and emails or in-person on weekly basis in order to cover the syllabus.
