The Sindh Madressatul Islam University celebrated the 146th birth anniversary of its alumni and founder of Pakistan Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on Friday at its Inner Courtyard of the main building. The cake cutting ceremony was organized by SMIU’s Students Debating Society amid a message of unity, faith and discipline.

Speaking to the faculty members, principal officers and students the Vice Chancellor SMIU Prof. Dr. Mujeebuddin Sahrai Memon said SMI was established for the Muslims of Sindh to get modern education but its doors were open for all the people from the entire sub-continent beyond any religious differences and ethnicity.

He quoted Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, an alumnus of SMI and renowned educationist that he used to call SMI “Child of Sindh and Mother of Pakistan” so in that connection i believe Pakistan was founded because of Sindh Madressatul Islam, he said and added further “if Quaid e Azam didn’t study here his grooming would be different because he studied here for the longest period of his academic life”. Mr. Sahrai said Jinnah gave a motto ‘unity, faith and discipline’ through his personal example, added further “today we are divided in different ways but how Mr. Jinnah alone united the whole nation for single cause”.

On the occasion students Mirza Hurera Baig, Syeda Harmeen and others paid the tribute to the Quaid e Azam by presenting songs, poetry and speeches.
