Department of Computer Science and Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of SMIU jointly organized a workshop on “Learn: How to Create CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) Applications from Scratch using Java,” on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Senate Hall of the university.

More than 100 students from various IT departments of SMIU including the Department of Computer Science, Department of Software Engineering and Department of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences; participated in the workshop, which was held in two shifts.

Mr. Irfan Ali Kandhro, a Ph.D. scholar, who also works as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science of the university conducted the workshop. He talked about the core objectives of Java programming language with Database Management System (DBMS) in detail.

He elaborated that how these programming languages differ from other high-level programming languages like C and C++. “This kind of comparative study helps students to get a clear idea about different programming languages,” he said.
Mr. Kandhro said the objective of the workshop was to provide hands-on experience to students with Java programming and its object-oriented features and this workshop will help them in learning the writing, compiling and execution of Java programs and building robust applications by using Java’s object-oriented features. Thus, it will help the students to empower themselves with programming skills and related knowledge. Also, the aim of the workshop was to boost the competency of students, prepare them to compete in the technologically driven job environment, and enable them to develop and implement innovative solutions to the programming languages issues.

During the session, CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) operations were practically taught to the students.
