SMUTA demands inquiry into Engineer Umrani’s suspected murder

LinkedIn

Sindh Madressatul Islam University Teachers’ Association (SMUTA) has shown grave concern over the unfortunate demise of Engineer Yasir Iqbal Umrani, the younger brother of Dr Aamir Iqbal Umrani, Director ORIC Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) during election duty at Sirhari, Sanghar.

SMUTA president, Asif Hussain Samo, has expressed concern that though the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) allocates election duties to teachers, officers, and other staff (sometimes allegedly allocated out of blue and without prior training) but more often than not the conditions at polling stations are abysmal and highly unsatisfactory. Due to such a lack of facilities, the lives of staff are often at stake.

The SMUTA leadership further stressed that without an iota of doubt, the election duties are a national duty and everyone should remain ready to perform their national duty, but during that duty, due to unsatisfactory facilities, if the staff members go through any loss, who should be blamed for that then?

SMUTA demands an impartial inquiry into the unfortunate demise of Yasir Iqbal Umrani as demanded by his family. The legal inquiry should be done without any delay so that the family can get justice.
