While addressing a press conference at Bilawal House Media Cell, the Provincial Education Minister Saeed Ghani said that Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary School Certificate Annual Examinations 2021 will be held in July. In the coming two days, the date of exams for primary & middle classes will be decided.

He said that thousands of candidates have applied for the recruitment of 37000 vacant positions of teachers. Owing to Covid-19 current situation, however, the Institute of Business Administration Sukkur is unable to conduct test through which the aspirants would be appointed. The minister on the occasion said that he will visit the institute to review the situation.

Responding to a question, Ghani said that this year as many as 155 schemes in the education department will be completed by June 2021. Our focus will be on the repairing of old school buildings instead of constructing new buildings. The maintenance work of schools will be continued because the infrastructure of schools has deteriorated especially after the floods and rains.

He said that we had already decided to conduct annual exams for Matriculation and Intermediate classes in Sindh in July while other provinces are yet to take the decision regarding annual examinations. All decisions have taken after consultation with the Sindh Education and Literacy Department’s Steering Committee, experts and all stakeholders of education sector.

Ghani said that there is a keen shortage of teachers at public sector schools of Sindh. We have decided to recruit 37000 teachers through a third party—IBA. At present, we have functionalized 2247 closed schools by transferring teachers from other schools to closed ones. The shortage of teachers will be met soon after recruitment.
