The Vice-Chancellor University of Sindh Jamshoro Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro has said that language is an important source of friendship, through which business affairs and relationships can be established with people from different countries of the world while the Japanese consul general in Karachi Isomura Toshikazu has announced to start Japanese language learning course from February 2022 at Sindh University’s Area Study Centre Far East & Southeast Asia (FESEA).

This they said while addressing the memorandum of understanding ceremony (MoU) signing ceremony held at SU’s Area Study Center for starting Japanese language courses in the center. Director Area Study Centre FESEA Dr. Mukesh Kumar Khatwani and chairman Pakistan-Japan Intellect Forum Iqbal Burma put their signatures on the agreement in presence of Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro and Japanese Consul General in Karachi Mr. Isomura Toshikazu.

According to the MoU, a Japanese language course will be started at SU’s Area Study Center from February 2022, in which a Japanese instructor to be provided by the Consulate General will teach the language to the aspiring students of the University of Sindh and other craving youth of the province.

SU Vice-Chancellor said that whether the language was pedagogical, technical or scientific, it was necessary to learn more languages for communication adding that there were two types of language- one was mother tongue and the other one was need based lingo.

He said that those who knew more languages were valued and counted as an additional qualification; therefore, learning the Japanese language will pave the way for youth to get a number of academic, research and employment opportunities in Japan.

Addressing at the juncture, the Consul General of Japan in Karachi Isomura Toshikazu said that Pakistan and Japan were enjoying fraternal relations and after signing MoU with the University of Sindh, classes for learning Japanese language would be started from February 2022.

He further said that by learning Japanese language, Pakistani youth would be able to take advantage of higher education, research and employment opportunities in Japanese universities and Japan.

Earlier in his welcome address, Director Area Study Center Dr. Mukesh Kumar Khatwani welcomed the guests and said that he was appreciative to the Vice-Chancellor for encouraging him to conduct academic and research programs at the Area Study Center and for setting up various corners.

He said that after the signing of the MoU, a Japanese language course would be started from February this year in which a Japanese instructor would teach the language to the aspirants.

Chairman Pakistan-Japan Intellect Iqbal Burma, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Zareen Abbasi, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Wazir Ali Baloch, Director Sindh Rural Development Center Prof. Dr. Shahabuddin Mughal, Chairperson Department of International Relations Dr. Ishrat Abbasi, Prof. Dr. Anila Naz Soomro, Prof. Ghulam Murtaza Khoso, Dr. Ronak Ali Behan and others were also present on the occasion.
