The SU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro hoisted the national flag at varsity’s Hyder Bux Pavilion amid scores of faculty, officers, employees and students. The national anthem was also played and collective prayers for the growth and prosperity of Pakistan were also offered on the occasion, while more than 500 saplings were also planted at the Central Library and Marvi Girls Hostel.

According to the details, an important event was organized at the University of Sindh in connection with the 74th Independence Day celebrations of the country at Haider Bakhsh Jatoi Pavilion where the Vice-Chancellor alongside Registrar Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, Director Bureau of Students, Tutorial Guidance Counseling Services & Co-Curricular Activities (STAGS) Dr. Ghazala Panhwar, Deans, Directors, Chairpersons, Teachers, Officers and a large number of employees and students hoisted the national flag. Later, the national anthem was played, which was saluted by the SU’s security, Rangers and police forces while all the attendees including Dr. Kalhoro stood in respect of the national anthem.

Muhammad Junaid recited some verses from the Holy Quran while Anzeela Ansari recited the Naat. Keeping the COVID-19 situation, the tree plantation on the campus was preferred this year at SU over other activities including games on the eve of Independence Day.

Addressing the participants, VC Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro said that one could gauge the greatness of freedom by seeing the radiant faces of the country on the day of independence. He said that Pakistan was the best country in all respects including geography wise.

“With abundant natural resources, there are four seasons in which all kinds of crops, fruits and vegetables can be grown”, Dr. Kalhoro said and added that Pakistan was an Islamic republic, where people of different nationalities were living with their beliefs and freedom and the fundamental rights of all were protected.

“There is no other blessing like freedom,” he said. “We are fortunate enough to be citizens of this great country rich in natural resources. This is the fruit of the eternal sacrifices of our elders,” he said. Millions of lives were sacrificed for the cause of Pakistan.

He said that Allah Almighty had blessed the Pakistani nation with God-given abilities, if they were used properly, no power could stop the nation from progress and prosperity.

Later, the Vice-Chancellor and other participants held a flag march from the VC House to the Central Library, where 400 different plants were planted, including neem trees. After which Dr Kalhoro reached Marvi Girls’ Hostel and inaugurated the tree plantation drive by planting a sapling.

On the occasion, the participants planted as many as 100 different saplings in the hostel to make it green.

On the other hand, the focal person SU Campus Mirpurkhas Dr. Imam-ud-Din Khoso hoisted the national flag at his campus followed by the national anthem. Sweets were also distributed among various school children, youth and elders on the occasion.
