SU student grabs top position in 47th Nathiagali Summer College

The MPhil student of the Institute of Physics, University of Sindh (SU), Jamshoro, Qirat Iqbal has grabbed the first position in the poster presentation competition at the 47th International Nathiagali Summer College (INSC-2022), which was organized by the College of Advanced Quantum Technology in Murree.

She has been given an award and certificate of appreciation after standing first in the poster presentation competition. Qirat Iqbal showcased her poster presentation titled “Surface Ion Trap Design for Magnetic Quantum Sensing in 3D Space” in the presence of her supervisor Prof Dr Altaf Nizamani at the conference, which was praised and appreciated by the scholars, professors and scientists of high caliber.

Scholars from the top institutions of higher education in the country took part in the poster presentation competitions held at the annual conference. Those who participated in the competition hailed from the University of Sindh (SU) Jamshoro, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), National Institute of Lasers and Optronics (NILOP), Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad, National Center for Physics (NCP) and other prestigious educational institutions.

Qirat Iqbal while addressing at the juncture said that she was elated because of her participation in the 47th International Nathiagali Summer College 2022 organized by the College of Advanced Quantum Technology College founded by Nobel Laureate Professor Abdul Salam.

She said that the credit for her success went to her MPhil supervisor Dr. Altaf Nizamani, University of Sindh Jamshoro and her parents who always motivated her to do something new in her research area.

On the other hand, Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of Sindh University and supervisor of the scholar Professor Dr. Altaf Nizamani said that the research work of his scholar was highly appreciated at the conference, for which he was happy.
He said that the enrolled scholars at SU should also focus on quality research so that the name of the university could be brought to light.

Meanwhile, SU Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro congratulated Qirat Iqbal and her supervisor Dr. Altaf Nizamani for winning the first position in the poster presentation competition held at the International Nithiagali Summer College and hoped that the research scholars of MPhil and PhD would pay their heed towards quality research like Qirat Iqbal so that University of Sindh might be counted among the best educational and research institutions.

He said that personal and national development was not possible without having quality education and research. He said that Qirat Iqbal had made the name of the University of Sindh bright by securing the first position at the said conference.
