The University of Okara’s Department of Chemistry organized a symposium titled as “Innovative Research Ideas in Chemical & Material Sciences’ where a large number of faculty members and students discussed various global trends in scientific research. The keynote speakers were Dr Hidayat Hussain from Institute of Plant Biochemistry, Germany and Dr Khurram Joiya from Institute of New Horizons.
At the beginning of the event, Dr Atif Ali Altan, Chairman, Department of Chemistry, welcomed and participants and highlighted his department’s contribution to the research activities of the university. “As per the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, we are keen to expose our students to the international academic community by organizing such event,” said Dr Atif.
The guest speakers delivered lectures on contemporary global research trends and techniques to access the top notch journals for publication.
Poster competition was also held at the symposium. Commenting on the students’ efforts to show complex scientific concepts on papers, Dr Ghulam Mustafa, Associate Professor of Chemistry, told that in order to cope with the challenges of the 21st century research, the students must be equipped with smart working skills.
Dr Riaz Hussain, Abul Hameed, Dr Amjad Hussain, Junaid Yaqoob, Dr Rafia Rehman, Dr Hayat Ullah and others also attended the event.
