Teachers demonstrate protest demanding raise in salaries

The teachers from  government schools on Wednesday demonstrated protest in front of Karachi Press Club demanding 20 to 25 percent raise in salary in the coming fiscal year.

The protesting teachers came from different districts of Sindh. They were chanting slogans against the provincial government. Later, the teachers moved towards the Chief Minister House. However, police barred them from advancing.

One of the protesting teachers named Muhammad Imtiaz told that they were part of the protest being organized by the Sindh Government Employees Grand Alliance comprises employees of 32 departments. He said that all the employees want raise in salaries and allowances on the pattern of other provinces.

Later, a three-member committee of the protesting teachers met the chief secretary who agreed that a 13-member committee would be formed before the annual budget to resolve the issue. On the assurance of the chief secretary, the protesting dispersed from the site protest.
