TEVTA announces Summer Skills Camp

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) announces to hold Summer Skills Camp in summer vacations for the students of schools and colleges. TEVTA, Industries Department, Schools Education and Higher Education Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

In this regard, MoU signing ceremony was held at Government MAO College Lahore which was attended by Minister Industries SM Tanveer, Minister School and Higher Education Mansoor Qadir whereas Secretary Industries Ehsan Bhutta, Secretary School Education Maqbool Dhawala, Secretary Higher Education Javed Akhtar Mahmood, COO TEVTA Ahmad Khawar Shahzad, Senior Director General Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Chairman PBTE Nazir Niazi and other officials also participated.

While addressing the ceremony, Minister Industries SM Tanveer said that this camp will allow students to learn new skills in upcoming summer vacations rather than wasting time. He added that this program will polish the hidden skills of students. Minister Education Mansoor Qadir said that now it’s time that students should realize that they should learn new skills for a better future.

Secretary Industries Ehsan Bhutta explained the details of the Summer Skills Camp this camp will be started in 10 cities of Punjab including Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Gujrat and Sialkot, where 1500 students will be trained in 14 trades. These trades include domestic electrician, plumber, HAVCR, Tailoring, CCA, Cooking, Beautician, Safety inspector, floriculture, kitchen gardening, kashigari, home appliances repair, CNC machine operator and offset printing.

He added that students of schools or colleges will be selected whereas female students will be given a pick-and-drop facility. The School Education Department and Higher Education Department will hold an awareness camp among students regarding summer camps and programs being offered at the camp. Furthermore, the courses being offered at institutes with the best labs and teachers, at the end of the course, students will be given certificates from PBTE.

He went on to say that a major portion of our population is youth and we need to train them with technical and vocational training alongside conventional education. He added that technical education plays an important role in the country’s development.

Secretary Higher Education said that it is a good opportunity for our students to get admission in these courses and decide their future.
