Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) celebrated World Skills Day here on Thursday. Punjab Minister for Commerce and Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal Chairperson Ali Salman Siddique were the chief guests on occasion whereas COO TEVTA Rai Manzoor Nasir, Chairman Zalmi Foundation Muhammad Akram were present on occasion. On this occasion, the office bearers of the first TEVTA Alumni Association was also announced.

An MoU was also signed between TEVTA, Zalmi Foundation and Tand Tang the Chinese Education. The MoU was aimed at providing quality manpower to local economic zones and CPEC Special Economic Zones. The agreement will also help to establish industry-academia linkages to promote demand-driven vocational-technical education talents and provide customized technical vocational education and solutions to modern industries, modern agriculture and service stations.

Ali Salman Siddique in his speech observed that the largest skill provider of Pakistan, TEVTA is celebrating world skills day. We will collaborate with China Tang in terms of CPEC and it will be a game-changer for the skills Industry, he said adding, “I observed after joining that this organization lack use of technology”. He added that when he inquired he found that the common man didn’t know about TEVTA although it had 400 institutes and more than 15000 staff. This made me think that there must be some data with us so we did an analysis in the first 100 days and established a skills ecosystem that identified gaps in our TEVTA, he added.

Chairperson TEVTA went on to say that we want to provide our students quality demand-driven skills therefore we are going to establish Pakistan’s first-ever skills development park in the TEVTA secretariat. We are looking forward that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the groundbreaking of the park.

Minister Commerce and Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal said that TEVTA will utilize a 100 per cent budget which is allocated in the recent budget. He added that now TEVTA is focusing on demand-driven courses, information technology and e-Learning which is now necessary for competing in the modern era.
