A poster exhibition was organized at the Government College University, Lahore on the theme of environment by the GCU Biological society, on Thursday. Students and art lovers, from different universities, participated in the activity.GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah was the chief guest at the exhibition. Students from 45 colleges and universities displayed more than 83 posters at the GCU Abdus Salam Hall highlighting pertinent issues including water scarcity, climate change, plastic waste and threats to biodiversity.
Addressing the participants, the vice chancellor said the role of art in education and raising awareness in society was critical, adding that it enabled them to see the world and the human condition differently.
“Artists raise questions and compel us to think,” he added. The VC also talked about the importance of animal protection, green energy, organic food and recycling. Prof Dr Khalid Pervez lone also addressed the possible threats to biodiversity at the prize distribution ceremony. Later, winners were awarded shields and certificates.
