LUMS

general uniFounded in Lahore in 1984, Lahore University of Management Sciences has risen through the educational ranks to become one of the most sought after institutions of higher learning in not only Lahore, but in Pakistan as well. It was first set up as a graduate business school, and grew to become known for offering some of the best undergrad and postgrad business degree programmes in Pakistan. Its MBAs remain highly prized in the job market and command premium remunerations compared to graduates of other institutions.

Besides its business programmes, LUMS has also been offering liberal arts courses since 1994. The university added to its portfolio a school of engineering in 2008, a law school in 2004 and a school of education as recently as 2017, all of which provide educational services at the undergrad, postgrad and doctorate levels. LUMS also runs a National Outreach Programme that attracts financially underprivileged, yet highly talented individuals from across Pakistan and provides them a chance to study at one of the best universities in Pakistan without a concern for academic expenditure. UMT

University of Management and Technology is one of the prominent medium-sized private general universities in Lahore and one that has made a distinct mark for itself in a short span of time. UMT was founded in 1990 and received a degree-granting charter in 2002. The university now has 13 schools, including School of Business and Economics (SBE) and School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) and School of Law and Policy (SLP) and four institutes that offer degree programmes at the bachelors, masters and doctorate levels.

The institution has been awarded the W4 category by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, a rank only awarded to top-tier universities. UMT is also among the few universities in Pakistan whose business programmes have the highest accreditation from NBEAC, the W category.

At present, UMT offers degrees in more than 150 disciplines that range from computer science economics and social sciences and food and dairy technology. Besides, UMT has international linkages with over more than universities spread across the globe. FCC

Other than being one of the best private general universities in Lahore, Forman Christian College also happens to be one of the oldest educational institutions set up on the Indo-Pak subcontinent. FCC was first established as Mission College in 1964, but had its name changed to Forman Christian College in 1894 to honour the founder, Dr Charles W Forman. Situated along the scenic Canal Road in Lahore, FCC was made an independent university in 2004 and has been on a growth trajectory ever since. It is the leading liberal arts institution in Pakistan and offers undergrad and postgrad degrees in management, public policy, education, IT and mathematics, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. FCC University has the highest recognition from HEC Pakistan and is a W-category university.

The varsity has a student body made up of more than 6,000 students, while the strength of its faculty is 220 members, more than 100 of which have PhD degrees. FCC University also has large alumni body, with over 21,700 registered members.
