In a significant move towards environmental sustainability and infrastructure enhancement, the Vice Chancellor of Punjab University (PU), Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood, inaugurated a tree plantation drive at Hailey College of Banking & Finance (HCBF) on Saturday. The event was marked by the presence of HCBF Principal Dr. Ahmed Muneeb Mehta, along with faculty members and staff.

The Vice Chancellor praised the ongoing enhancements, which include office renovations, upgraded sports facilities, a new digital biometric attendance system, and modernized classrooms and computer labs. He emphasized the importance of these improvements for the overall well-being of the HCBF faculty and staff.
In his address, Prof Dr. Mahmood encouraged the teachers to actively participate in tree planting within their surroundings and take responsibility for nurturing the trees. “Planting trees is not just an act of today but a gift for the future,” he remarked, highlighting the long-term benefits of a greener environment.
Principal Dr. Ahmed Muneeb Mehta echoed these sentiments, stating that the tree plantation drive aligns with the Punjab Government’s initiatives to make the most of the monsoon season. He stressed the collective responsibility to protect the natural environment, noting, “It is our duty to safeguard the natural environment for the survival of all living beings on Earth.”
The event underscores Punjab University’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development, reflecting a broader effort to foster a healthier, more sustainable campus and community.
