The Faculty of Public Health and Preventive Medicine & Department of Community Medicine and Department of Medicine (NMW), in collaboration with Institute of Leadership Excellence hold a Workshop on Leadership in Healthcare. Poster presentations and research competitions were held among the students as well as new Publication Office was inaugurated in King Edward Medical University, Lahore.

The Chief Guest was Prof Javed Akram, Vice Chancellor, University of Health Sciences and Guest of Honor was Prof Farkhanda Manzoor, Director Academics Lahore College for Women University, Lahore. The Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University. Prof Khalid Masood Gondal said that whole hearted support shall be extended for educational and research activities in the University and emphasized that every effort would be made for achieving best quality standards in research and medical education.

Prof Javed Akram greatly appreciated the research projects of students under supervision of Department of Community Medicine. He was impressed by the creative thinking and critical analysis of undergraduate students of King Edward Medical University. He said that conflicts and hypocrisy should be avoided and leadership qualities should be polished in our youth and future generations. Doctors must devote themselves to serve the humanity and should not indulge in unethical practices.

Prof Farkhanda Manzoor in her address said that it’s a golden opportunity for undergraduates to learn more about inter sectorial collaborations, leadership and joint research projects. Evidence based practices and policies are required for better health care based on sound Research Methodology.

Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal deliberated on the need of research culture and research collaborations for transforming individuals to future leaders. Prophet Muhammad PBUH is the leader who has transformed lives of humanity and he (PBUH) is the best role model for everyone. Medical doctors should serve humanity with best quality standards.He said that “ True leaders are always visionary, humble and compassionate”. The doctors who work devotedly and have passion to eliminate the sufferings of others are always successful in this life and hereafter

The organizers Prof Dr. Saira Afzal, Dr Somia Iqtadar and Dr Fariha Salman, thanked the VC KEMU for patronizing and promoting the culture of quality research activities in the University. They also presented vote of thanks to the participants and the faculty to make this event a success.
